In my opinion, what you wear to your birthday photo session probably makes the biggest impact of anything you’ll do for your session.
Consider Getting a Color Analysis
While you don’t need to know if you’re a Summer, Winter, Spring, or Autumn, it really helps to know what colors look good on you. If a few people have complimented you when you wear a certain color, that might be a hint that it could be a good color option for you to consider.
Choose Different Options
Bring a few outfits you feel great in. If you’re up for it, wearing something formal or more unique than you normally would can be so much fun for photos. But don’t be afraid to also bring something more casual like jeans.
If you’re ordering something online, give yourself lots of extra time for receiving your items.
Consider using a clothing rental company, too, like Rent the Runway. This is a great option for checking out some formal or unique birthday dresses or outfits.
Include Props and Personal Touches
Bring along props that hold sentimental value or represent your interests. For birthday photo sessions, I love including details that show celebration.
One of my favorite props for a birthday photoshoot is foil balloon numbers. It’s such a fun detail to include for a few photos. There are different options you can choose from. Would you choose gold, silver, or black?
Include Friends or Family in Your Birthday Photoshoot
You can include someone else in your photoshoot. While I definitely suggest having the focus of your photos be on beautiful photos of just you, including someone special is a wonderful way to help celebrate your birthday.
For this photoshoot, she wanted to include beautiful portraits of her husband and daughter. It was fun to photograph family photos that I knew she would love for years to come.
