Sharing beautiful memories with your family is the best. I think having family photos with your loved ones is an amazing gift. Instead of racking your brain to figure out what to get someone, consider investing in a professional photo shoot.

I love hearing from families I have photographed throughout the years share how these photos are so important to them.

If you’re vacationing in the Orlando area or live around here, I would love to help you plan an amazing photo shoot.

Here are some tips to make your extended family photo shoot a big success.

Plan Ahead

Schedule your photo shoot as soon as possible to make sure that everyone can make it.

Coordinate Outfits

How formal or casual do you want to go? You’ll want to have an idea of what style everyone will be wearing. If you show up in a formal gown, and others are wearing shorts and flip-flops, you’re probably not going to love the whole look.

If you have many people in your group, consider keeping patterns to a minimum. If everyone is wearing a super loud print, it might look really busy in the photos. Breaking that up with some solid colors is a great idea. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t wear a pattern and have fun with your style.

Choose What Type of Location You Want

What type of location would you like for your family photos? Do you love the outdoors and want a garden setting? Are you more comfortable in a studio space where you don’t have to worry about the rain and Florida heat?

I offer both studio and on location. Photo shoots. I would love to help you plan what works best for your family.

Bring Snacks and Water

Bringing water and snacks can be a great idea, especially if you have kids that will be photographed.

If you’re coming to the studio, I will have different options for and snacks available for you.

After Party

Plan to do something fun after your photo shoot. If you have kids, this can be a simple as planning to have a special snack or gift after your photo shoot or going to a park to let out some energy. Having something to look forward to, like eating out, can make the day extra fun. It’s always nice to have something to look forward to and maybe something to help encourage kids to have their photos taken.

This family was a lot of fun to photograph. They live in different states and decided to have professional photos taken during their Disney family vacation.

I always plan to photograph the entire group in one photo as well as getting many different smaller groupings.

I love knowing that families will look at these photos and remember the beautiful memories years from now.

If you’re in the Central Florida area, I would love to learn more about what’s on your wish list for professional photos. My studio is located in Lake Mary, Florida.  Use the contact form and let’s start planning your dream session.
